Aneesa Afroze, MD

Aneesa Afroze, MD, received her medical degree from University of Health Sciences, India. She completed her training in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Infectious Diseases at University of Missouri Healthcare, Columbia, Missouri.

Dr. Afroze is board certified in Internal Medicine as well as in Infectious Diseases. Her special interests include transplant infectious diseases, infections in immuno-compromised patients, HIV/AIDS, infection control and antimicrobial resistance (AMR).

She is Certified in Travel health (CTH). Her expertise includes tropical medicine and travelers’ health - infectious diseases and illness acquired during travel.

She is a Certified Wound Specialist (CWS). Her interests include management of various types of wounds and application of bioengineered skin substitutes for chronic non-healing wounds.

She is credentialed HIV Specialist (AAHIVS)by American Academy of HIV Medicine.

Rima El-Herte, MD

Dr. Rima El-Herte, M.D. was born and raised In Lebanon. She has received her medical diploma from the Lebanese University in 2007. Dr. El-Herte then pursued her specialty in internal medicine and infectious disease at the American University of Beirut Medical Center in Lebanon and later at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and then IMMC in Des Moines.

 Dr. El-Herte enjoys all aspects of infectious diseases especially infections in immunocompromised patients, infections in cancer patients, fungal and viral infections and HIV. While at UIHC, Dr. El-Herte conducted a research on CMV infection in patients with multiple myeloma who received stem cells transplant. Dr. El-Herte is also fluent in speaking Arabic, French and German with little of Bosnian.

Dr. El-Herte is board certified in Internal Medicine and board eligible in Infectious Diseases. She is also certified in hyperbaric medicine. Dr. El-Herte joined the group in July 2017.

Michele D. Granada, MD

Michele D. Granada, MD received her medical degree from University of Santo Tomas, Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, in Manila, Philippines in 1999. She completed her internship in 2000 and her internal medicine residency at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines in 2003 and is board certified in Internal Medicine. She completed her residency at the New York Medical College Internal Medicine Residency Program at Metropolitan Hospital Center, New York in 2008. She then went to complete her Infectious Diseases fellowship at Westchester Medical Center/New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York in 2010, where she served as chief fellow. She is dual board certified in Internal Medicine and in Infectious Diseases.

Her special interests include general infectious diseases, HIV/AIDS, infections in transplant recipients and other immunocompromised hosts, antimicrobial stewardship, sexually transmitted illnesses, travel medicine and tropical diseases.

Casey M. Rice, MD

Casey M. Rice, M.D. was raised in Michigan and completed his undergraduate studies at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI. He received his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, MI. He completed his residency in internal medicine, as well as a fellowship in infectious diseases at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, MI.

 Dr. Rice is board certified in internal medicine and board eligible in infectious diseases. He enjoys working with patients with general infectious diseases, and also has interests in international and travel health, as well as care of patients with HIV and Hepatitis C.

Cindy S. Taylor, MSN, ARNP, CWOCN

Cindy S. Taylor, MSN, ARNP, CWOCN was born and raised in southern and central Iowa. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree of Nursing at Cedarville College of Ohio. After practicing in hospital, home care and outpatient settings, she pursued training for specialty wound and ostomy care at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio in 2002. She has been practicing in specialty care since that time. In 2012, she received her Master’s in Nursing Education and in 2013 she completed her Post-Master’s degree as a Family Nurse practitioner, both from the University of Southern Indiana. She is board certified as a Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nurse and Family Nurse Practitioner.

Ravi K. Vemuri, MD

Ravi K. Vemuri, M.D., was born in India. He moved with his family to Wisconsin in 1969. He attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison for two years of undergraduate training. He attended Kurnool Medical College in India, graduating in 1985. He completed his one-year rotating internship at the Government General Hospital in Kurnool. He completed his internal medicine residency at Sinai Samaritan Medical Center in Milwaukee, where he served as chief resident. He completed his fellowship in infectious diseases at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, MI.

He is interested in all aspects of clinical infectious diseases and has a special interest in the medical problems of travelers and difficult to heal wounds.

Dr. Vemuri is board certified in internal medicine, infectious disease, hyperbaric medicine and is certified in wound care. He is medical director of the Mercy Wound Treatment Center and Hyperbaric Medicine Department.
