Melisa A. Coaker, MD

Melisa A. Coaker, MD

Melisa A. Coaker, MA, MD, was born and raised in the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan. She completed undergraduate and graduate training at Wayne State University in Detroit. She completed medical school at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee, and finished her internal medicine residency and sleep medicine fellowship at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit.

Dr. Coaker is board certified in internal medicine and sleep medicine. Her special interests include sleep disordered breathing and shift work disorder, both of which were the basis for her fellowship research.

Wendy L. Fluegel, MD

Wendy L. Fluegel, MD

Wendy L. Fluegel, MD, was born and raised in central Missouri and attended the University of Missouri, Kansas City. She subsequently received training in internal, pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis where she was chief resident in internal medicine. Dr. Fluegel was an associate professor at the University of Missouri, Kansas City, while in private practice from 1995 to 1998. Her research interests include alternative treatment options for obstructive sleep apnea and asthma treatment and outcome.

Dr. Fluegel is board certified in internal, pulmonary, and sleep medicine and has board eligibility in critical care medicine. She continues to be interested in all aspects of sleep medicine and pulmonary disorders.

Nguyen-Ly Huynh, PA-C

Nguyen-Ly Huynh, PA-C

Nguyen-Ly Huynh, PA-C, was born in Nha Trang, Vietnam and moved to Iowa in 1995. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Iowa and attended the Long Island University at Brooklyn, New York, for her physician assistant degree. She is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. Her interests lie in all aspects of sleep medicine.

Jef Start, DO

Jef Start, DO

Jefrey Start, DO, was born and raised in Western Pennsylvania. He completed his undergraduate degree at Clarion University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Start was a sleep technologist at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center's Sleep and Chronobiology Laboratory before completing his medical education at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his family practice residency at Saint Vincent Hospital in Erie, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Start is Board Certified in sleep and family medicine. His special interests include narcolepsy, sleep disordered breathing, and insomnia as well as a broad focus on all aspects of pediatric and adult sleep and wellness.

Jason B. Wittmer, MD

Jason B. Wittmer, MD

Jason B. Wittmer, MD, was born and raised in central Kansas. He completed his undergraduate and medical education at the University of Kansas. He completed an internal medicine residency and a pulmonary/critical care fellowship at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City. Dr. Wittmer is board certified in internal, pulmonary disease, sleep, and critical care medicine. Dr. Wittmer sees patients at Pella Regional Medical Center where he serves as the medical director of the Sleep Center.
